Operations

The main division within the Gloucester City Fire Department is the Operations Division, which is responsible for emergency medical services, fire suppression, mitigation of disasters, and rescue activities.

Specialized units within the Operations Division include the Hazardous Materials Response Team, Confined Space Rescue, Rescue, and Marine Operation, Emergency Medical Services and Fire Suppression.

ü  The Gloucester City Fire Department is ready to respond to all kinds of incidents.  With a make up of both career and volunteer members, we have the best of both worlds.  We are one of only a few departments with the capabilities of a hazmat team and specialized rescue operations.  Because our ambulance service is fire department based, we can provide a first responder service in times when the ambulance is busy or delayed.   

ü  Smoke detector assistance to all residents.  We can help install your detectors, provide them if you are not protected and help with changing batteries.    

ü  Special consideration to our senior residents.  

ü  Provide fire station tours for civic groups, schools or any resident wishing to learn more about their department
