Fire
department was busy the first three month of 2010 - responding to 300 fire
dispatches that included 26 structure fires
January 24th 2010 at 4:18 AM, the fire department was dispatched to
751 Water Street for a building fire. This is the site of the old AMSPEC
Chemical Company. The on-duty Battalion Chief arrived to find a large
section of the building heavily involved in fire. Additional help was
called in to a total of 5 alarms. See pictures at our photos page.
March 15th 2010 at 11:09 AM, an off duty Battalion Chief
discovered smoke coming from a three story twin dwelling on Monmouth Street.
The off duty Chief knocked on doors and assisted the residents out of the house
as the fire department was responding. The fire caused considerable damage
to both properties, but due to the work of the fire department, both properties
can be rehabilitated and the families can move back in. Pictures on photo page.
April 14th 2010 at 1:07 PM Taskforce 5 was dispatched to Walnut Avenue
for a reported dwelling fire. Squad 51 arrived to find a smoke condition
in the rear of the dwelling. An "Al Hands Fire" was struck. Fire
companies worked quickly to locate the seat of the fire and keep property
damages to where the house can be repaired and again be livable. Photos on photo
page.
